The view from the top of the mountain is awesome although getting there is another story, it is excruciating and it really takes guts and willpower to keep going.
Climbing mt Nyangani (with an elevation of 2,592m (8,505 ft) in my country in Zimbabwe-Africa, was so painful but the goal was to reach the summit. Although there were moments of pausing to rest, i kept putting one foot in front of the other and kept going. There is indeed power in being intentional and to keep seeing the end goal, which in this case was getting to the top of mt Nyangani.
When i eventually got to the summit, i could see everything from that peak point. Everything was clearer and i could see further. Even the air felt different.
The one who gets to the top of the mountain is never the same as the one who didn’t because it takes persistence and resiliency and with every step, my resiliency and confidence muscles were being grown and strengthened on my way up. It also takes a certain level of mindset shift and mindset reset to stay on course and not give up and keep going. As much as that climb was painful and exhausting, it was worth it.
So here is the thing, it’s about making a decision (INTENTION) and actually taking the first step (ACTION) to get to the next level. When you are starting, you don’t even realize you possess that kind of tenacity when you are still at the foot of the mountain. So during the course of the climb or journey or wherever you are at in your process, you have to keep telling yourself that you can do this (PEP TALK) because you can do this.
And you have to surround yourself with people on the same course and with people with the same intentions (Coaches, Mentors and other Gladiators) to keep cheering you on.
No one is however going to walk the treadmill for you just like no one is going to climb that mountain for you. See, we had gone on a personal development and evolving retreat and my Coach and the other people who had come for the retreat were there but each was taking their own steps.
So even if you have a Coach or Cheerleaders around you and they can give you the strategy or blue print and encourage you, the journey is ultimately yours to take or it’s nothing at all.
The thing is when you have climbed, you now have muscle memory and you can do it again and again.
It is however about taking that first step.
So you decide, do you want it enough or not?
